Read wide. Thats what most parents say, no?
I realised what it really meant when I received a lousy band 2 in primary school for english!!!, at primary 5!!!Which is why, I started this boring task of readddddinnnnngggggg...
Fiction, Non-fiction, fact, adventure, mystery, romance, and many more. With so many genres of books, I totally had NO idea which to start with. For a primary 5 kiddo, I thought at that time that maybe the newspapers was still a little too early, and that I had no choice but to read the boring fiction which most of the time, features good over bad, and a happy ending.
With no heart to read anything, I began to settle down on my brother's hand-me-down books. His english results were better than mine and he went to a good secondary school, so I supposed that his books should be good.
On to the first book. Wow. " The last templar".
That sounds interesting. Flip the pages, here we go! Too hard!!!!!! It uses some insane kind of language, seemingly "english enough". But hey, maybe this would help me improve my vocab.
Time over time, I read this outrageously tough book, and soon, I actually found out that if I had the heart to do so, this book, as long as the many other thousands, could be worth a read.
Now, whenever I see a nice book, it would be as good as sold. How glad am I, to have started taking the initiative when I was young.
